Victoria Hall – wedding fair & silent disco

As recommended suppliers at Victoria Hall, Saltaire we were delighted to be invited to their wedding fair on Sunday 23rd September 2018. If you are not familiar with this fantastic Grade II listed building, it is well worth a visit, as is Salts Mill & the other Victorian Era buildings.

I was joined by Rich Banks, one of our most experienced DJs. Rich was the first to do a silent disco for our Company at a wedding a couple of years back, at the request of our clients. He was blown away by how well the format worked at a wedding & after seeing some video footage we realised that we were on to something. Ziggy from our team talked to a number of companies operating in the field, hiring the headsets and transmitters. He found Silent Disco Direct, who are a Bradford based company and we are now working closely with them, supplying DJs for all types of event.

When we were invited to the fair by the team at Victoria Hall, Ziggy, who manages the events at the venue on behalf of Hi-Life floated the idea of a demonstration of the silent disco equipment. This was met with great encouragement and we spoke to Andy at Silent Disco Direct, who said he would happily come down with the equipment.

The whole day was a lot of fun, meeting other suppliers, many of whom were very interested in checking it out. We also got to meet a lot of couples who are getting married at the Hall and were able to answer questions about how our bespoke wedding DJ packages work. On top of this there was some excellent food to sample from a wide range of caterers in attendance.

Villa Farm – York Wedding venue

Villa Farm in Wigginton is a luxury holiday cottage and beautiful wedding venue set in 6 acres of private gardens, situated just 4 miles from York city centre.

We’ve had the pleasure of supplying DJ services here since 2012, doing many weddings, private parties and corporate events,  providing music for evening disco’s and supplying music for the ceremonies held there.

The events we’ve done have been quite varied, from small gatherings to full capacity weddings. DJing sometimes alongside bands, including ceilidh’s and acoustic singers, or just DJing throughout the day and evening and providing microphone support for speeches.

We have done “festival” type weddings, as well as the more traditional kind, with many different styles of music covered, from chart and cheesy pop through to hip hop, house, metal, drum and bass and grime !

In previous years the weddings were held on the grounds in a marquee or PapaKata style teepee, however since the beginning of 2018 they now have the impressive York barn, a purpose built function room, which can hold up to 220 guests for an evening reception, with 150 seated for a meal. It really is a fantastic space and a great setting for such a special day. The marquee option is still available though if that is your preference.

Marriage ceremonies can take place outside at the newly built pergola in the garden, a short walk from the function room, which has a local power supply, so that ceremony music can be provided, or if the unpredictable British weather has it’s way, the ceremony can take place in the function room, as they are both licensed for marriages.

The cottages on site are to a very high standard and can accommodate over 100 guests. Some wedding parties make use of these and have them for a few days before and after their event and this really seems to be a great way of taking the stress out of the big day as the guests are always very relaxed when we get to meet them prior to their ceremony or evening party.

There are a vast amount of great quality caterers on the suppliers list that can provide a wide array of mouth watering food offerings. As well as this, there are bespoke pop-up cocktail bars, bands and singers, photographers, florists. make-up artists, venue stylists, magicians and even a creche company and perhaps most importantly, cake and confectionary suppliers.



The team at Villa Farm are very friendly, professional and a joy to work alongside and we look forward to continuing this relationship long into the future as their recommended supplier of DJ’s.
